About
We help people buy retro consoles and games without getting burned. Name the thing you’re after, like a front-loading NES, a Genesis Model 1, a PlayStation SCPH-1001 or a boxed copy of EarthBound, and there’s a page for it. Each one tells you its story, how to tell which version you’re looking at, its region, what it puts out and what your TV needs, what wears out and what to check before you buy.
What collectors know about this hardware is scattered across wikis, service manuals and forum threads, and a raw eBay search gives you none of it. So we keep 36 model pages in one place, write down the things that catch used buyers out (the wrong revision, a region that won’t run your games, a missing power supply, a reproduction cart sold as real, a dead save battery, a mod the listing doesn’t mention) and pick the listings we’d buy.
We don’t sell games or consoles. No affiliate links. We earn nothing. We only recommend what we’d buy, and we’d rather you buy used. We run no analytics or tracking cookies, and we’re not affiliated with any console or game maker. See how we work for how the pages are researched and our disclosure for how links, picks and photos work.
Save Point is part of allbutnew, a set of shops for secondhand gear. Got an old console or games to sell? The “Get an offer” link on every model page sends it to our retro console expert, who replies by email.
